Etiquette on Gifts for Each Other

As etiquette states you are also supposed to get a gift for your future wife or future husband. Now, I don’t really understand this and how it came to be. But, presents are always nice.

I don’t think that this gift needs to be anything spectacular especially because you are both already spending plenty of money on the actual wedding. In the case of the bride/groom gift it is really more the thought that counts.
