Gifts for the Wedding Party

June 6th, 2007 by TheBride

You don’t want to give your groomsmen something that a couple of months later they can’t remember what it was they received. In our experience it seems like cuff links, lighters and flasks are gifts that most groomsmen won’t use, so why waste your money?

bright.jpgTimes are changing especially for first time bride and grooms. We found that during the crunch time of our wedding planning we didn’t want to be running around town trying to find the perfect gift for each specific person in out wedding, yet you want something that they will like and use.

We ending up getting gift cards to specific stores we knew the groomsmen and ushers would like. In some instances a few of the people in our wedding were also getting married and in that case you can buy them a ‘thank you for being in our wedding’ gift off their registry.

For bridesmaids, generally the rule is you give them the jewelry they will wear in the wedding. If you have 4 or more bridesmaids though, I think that the maid/matron of honor should receive something on top of the basic gift of jewelry, especially if you don’t have a personal attendant.

More responsibilities fall upon your maid/matron of honor that you initially think, trust me. So take extra time to get a gift that is more in tune to the extra responsibilities the maid/matron of honor has over the other bridesmaids, even if this is just a gift card to her favorite store.
