Tips for Saving on Your Wedding Flower Arrangements

June 13th, 2007 by TheBride

The flowers you pick for your wedding can make a huge statement and set the mood and theme. Flowers can by far make a huge dent in your wedding budget. Here I have outlined a few tips to help you be able to still get the wedding feel you want without breaking the bank.

First, use fake when and where you can. I’m not a big supporter of fake flowers because most of the time the flowers don’t look the same as real and they definitely don’t smell the same as real flowers. What you can do though, is use fake flowers when it is appropriate and when no one but you and maybe the bridal party will know.

What I mean is, say you have a couple of arrangements up on the alter you can easily make these all fake flowers if you wish. None of your guests are going to be getting up in the middle of the ceremony to check. Using all fake flowers in those types of arrangements can really save you money especially if you are using expensive flowers like calla lilies.

If using all fake flowers isn’t for you there are a few more options. If you are using a couple of flowers for your wedding you can use real flowers for the cheaper ones, like tweedia and other flowers and then just use fake ones for the more expensive flowers you want to use. At $10.00 for each calla lily, it really adds up to use fake instead of real. This way you can still get the real smell and give a real feel to your flowers.

If fake flowers are still what you are planning to go with there is another way to make them seem more real. You can always add in real baby breath or you can purchase an assortment of different fragrances for whatever type of flower you are using and spray that into the bouquets and arrangements.

The truth is the flower arrangement on the left is a mix of both real and fake flowers while the one on the right are only fake flowers.
