Bridal Shower Games
If you are throwing a bridal shower entertainment is key, especially if the shower is supposed to last 2 or more hours. Some games may not be appropriate so you want to look over the guest list and talk to the bride to ensure you don’t do anything embarrassing or tasteless.
There are a few good games that I have found to be fun and easy enough so that all guests should be able to participate. The first requires either necklaces or bracelets. These you can either buy cheap and use just for the game or you can use them as your party favors if you purchase nicer jewelry. You can also make them out of ribbon or string if you want as well and perhaps put a wedding charm on them.
As people show up you should hand out the necklaces one at time to each guest. Once everyone arrives explain to them that while at the shower they aren’t able to use a certain word related to weddings. You can choose wedding, bride, groom or present. Any word will work. If a person says the taboo word and gets caught, whoever caught them will get their necklace. The winner will be whoever has the most necklaces at the end of shower. This person should receive a extra special party favor, which can be candy or a votive candle. The prizes don’t have to be anything over the top just a nice thank you for coming and participating kind of present.
Another game that you can play is similar to scattergories. You can hand make or print off game sheets that list each letter of the alphabet with a space next to the letter for people to be able to write in. For this game you will give your guests a few minutes to come up with a word for each letter of the alphabet that is related to weddings. This game really gets interesting when you read aloud all the different answers people came up with! While scoring to see who has won the game make sure you count only original words otherwise it could take awhile to get through all the letters. The last game that seems to really get people involved is a word scramble, jumble or crossword. Any of these options will work great, and you can make them as easily as what you make for the scattergories game. Be careful though yo don’t get words too complicated. You want your guests to have fun not to get frustrated. You can find free websites online that will make a crossword, scramble or jumble for. If you decide to make your own just be sure you double check the spelling of the words you are using. I attended a bridal shower once where they did a word jumble but letters were missing from the words which can really put a damper on figuring out the words. Also, if you do make the game yourself you may want to test it out on someone else, like a friend or roommate. They may find things that you missed which can save you a lot of headaches once you get to the shower.
